The engagement required an analysis of the 1st line of defence FTP practices within the client’s Finance Department, whilst also taking into account the key activities within, the interactions with, the Risk Management function. The main entities impacted by the FTP were:
- Capital Markets: Client’s capital raising function
- Treasury: Clients treasury function, performing asset and liability management, liquidity management, portfolio management and financial engineering and advisory services (pricing credits).
- The Front Office: Client’s lending functions (loans and guarantees)
- Risk Management: Who had responsibility to develop and maintain the Bank’s FTP system, monitor and report on the performance and contribution of Treasury portfolios.
New Link contributed to bringing the client in line with industry standards by reviewing the current state of in-scope FTP practices and documenting the status quo, identifying potential gaps to industry standards and best banking practices and drafting a new FTP framework and operational action plan to address those gaps. The analysis considered the FTP methodology, FTP documentation including policies and procedures, FTP reporting including performance and controls reporting and supporting infrastructure, and the organisation and governance of the FTP practices.
